Belle Plaine is a growing community nestled in the beautiful Minnesota River Valley. Located midway between Mankato and the Twin Cities, U.S. Hwy. 169 provides easy access to this scenic area. Belle Plaine is conveniently located in southwest Scott County as a hub for many major thoroughfares.
U.S. Highway 169 is easily accessible.
State Highway 25 traverses through the city and across the Minnesota River.
County Roads 5, 6 and 64 provide well-maintained access to other areas of the state.
Airports are nearby. They include Minneapolis/St. Paul International, Flying Cloud and Mankato airports. Rail service is provided by the Union Pacific Railway.

Snowmobile Operation
Restrictions exist regarding the operation of a snowmobile within the city. Between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m., they may not be operated within 100 feet of a residence, except for the purpose of going to or from home. For complete details check Ordinance 503.03.

Watering Restrictions

Parking During Snow Removal
Residential areas: Do not park your vehicle on the city street until the street is cleared to its full width when snow has accumuluated to a depth of one-half or more inches on the roadway.
Downtown areas: There shall be no parking of vehicles in the designated downtown area when the Public Works Department posts NO PARKING signs.

Building Permits

Building permits are required for most new construction, including but not limited to new homes, decks, garages, sheds (greater than 120 square feet), re-roof, residing, window replacement. A site plan showing proposed construction is required.
Dog Licenses

Dogs over six months of age must be licensed in Belle Plaine. Licensed dogs are to wear the license tag number on their collars. Any dog found in the city without a license and running at large can be impounded. For more information, check with city hall.
Community Celebrations
Bar-B-Q Days
Since 1959, Belle Plaine has hosted one of the most popular summer celebrations in the region. The annual Bar-B-Q Days is the third weekend of July, during which thousands of community residents and area neighbors enjoy roast beef sandwiches, ball tournaments, carnival rides, music and more. A large parade, queen coronation and many other community events highlight Belle Plaine’s people, places and history.
